Do you take underwater photos? If so, what type of equipment do you use or recommend?

Wow!  GORGEOUS photo!  The last time I took photos it was on the Cayman Aggressor (a couple years before kids).  I can't remember what kind of camera they had for us to rent.  It was a point and shoot.  If we had time to go diving again, I wish I would be able to use my digital point and shoot, but they don't make a housing for it.  My DH has an Olympus Camedia that has a housing, but the batteries don't hold a charge for as long, and the media cards for it don't hold quite as many pictures.  The main thing is there's a shutter delay so by the time the camera takes the photo, the fish has already moved out of the frame.

I know that any underwater camera I buy will have to be digital!  I am too much of a shutterbug--snapping multiple views of the same shot until it changes.

I need to dig out my old slides.  There were a few really cool ones I was able to take...

By the way, WELCOME to the group!  So glad you joined us here!

Yes, I take underwater photos too! I used to use the Olympus 4040 with the PT010 housing but have gone to a DSLR with an Aquatica housing and strobes. Much bigger pain! ;)

I think if you like the ease of a point and shoot there are alot of good cameras out there with housing on which you can add a small strobe for lighting. I would recommend an adjustable flash so you can angle the flash for the best coverage.

Sadly, my computer just died with all my u/w photos and it's not clear if I'll be able to salvage them. My fault for not backing them up like I had planned : /

All I have left is what I had on my website: www.kelphead.net which is outdated and under construction.

I am a little embarressed to admit it but we just went diving and used a disposable underwater camera with no flash.  HAHAHA  I will be taking them in for developing soon and I'll post some for you.
