Baby Bennett came into this world on 11/09/09 he was born at 8:36 AM and was 6lbs 8 ozs :) he remained in the hospital until tuesday November 17, on November 17 we were able to bring him home :) I was so sxcited. I was just getting Bennett and Alexxa (my daughter) aquainted when my phone rang and it was the hospital telling me that I had to bring Bennett back to the hospital ASAP!!! I was devastated they received blood work back and had to retest him and that this could not wait.  We rush him back to the hospital unsure of what was going on the neonatologist took us into a room and explained to us that Bennett had some elevated blood work that came back and it had to do with his thyroid and that this could not wait.  He asked us to wait for the blood test results so that they could proceed with hormone treatments if the test results were accurate.  I was scared, unsure of what was going on for goodness sakes we just brought him home.  So they repeat the blood test the dr comes back to us and said that Bennett has Hyperthroidism...... they had to start him on medication ASAP.... Baby Bennett was born without a fully developed thyroid.... a babies thyroid when embryo forms at the tip of there tongue and as the baby grows the thyroid makes its way to the throat well Bennetts thyroid made it to the back of his tongue and did not develop.... the good news is we started him on medication right away the medication gives him the hormones that he needs to develop into a normal happy healthy child without this hormone/medication Bennett could of had mental/physical disabilities as he got older but since they caught this right away and started him on medication right away he is going to be alright.  We had to take him for Nucleart imaging testing on friday and to see a specialist on friday who reassured us that Bennett is going to be alright.  He will have to be on the medication for the rest of his life and will have to go for blood work once a month until he is 6 months old then after he will see the specialist every 3 months and they will eventualy adjust the medication.  Right now he is on a high adult dosage but eventualy the will adjust it .     We have all been on a whirlwind of emotions since he was born but atleast now we know what is wrong and we can treat and take care of him.

I would love to thank all you mamas for all of your support :)
