I was in Resort World. Spent REAL money for credits. They got rid of the game.My credits and MONEY went "POOF" Even if you have a small farm, or town, or whatever game you play I wanted you to know this. Your game can go "POOF" at anytime. As a goodwill gesture to keep game players happy they won't transfer credits. They got your money and that is it. How good does the Presidential offer look to you now?
let me please play devil's advocate here and i mean no disrespect to you, Seeker....
ok, yes, it sucks that the game was terminated on CM and that you spent $ for credits to give you a leg up in the game. however, there are no guarantees that any online game, regardless of its popularity on a site, is a 'forever' thing. you definitely take a risk when you spend money to play whether it's online poker, Gang Wars , Ravenwood, etc. in the grand scheme of things, you have to ask yourself if you can afford to lose what you've paid in.
true, a few bucks to one may have far more value/importance to that same few bucks to another. i truly understand that this is a group of people in vastly different financial circumstances. if you're willing to spend money for credits, then you must really enjoy the game. let's say that you spent $10 over the course of a year's time, can you honestly say that you didn't get a good deal for a year's worth of entertainment/stress relief/gameplay satisfaction?
i do agree with you that it would be a lovely goodwill gesture for the powers that be to credit what was spent, but this is a business. even with advertisers, there are still costs involved with just the day to day maintenence of the site, not to mention everything else it takes to keep the site up and running and competitive.
bottom line, no game is forever and you take a risk of losing your 'investment.' just my 2 cents worth...

I do not buy more than I am willing to lose on these games-after reading everyones' posts, I keep in mind that it is a distinct possibility that the game may just go poof! It happened to me in Cupcake after I spent money on Xmas decorations and my Bakery promptly closed permanently, so I already know!
PS: I usually limit myself to $3 too!
The reason is new members come in here. I want them to know about this. It's that simple. It was a pain posting all of these too!
Quoting cellblock:
Why so many of the same post is all I am wondering. One in every forum? It's not going to make a difference.

They got rid of Resort World like four moths ago (I saw that you had played a lot last year when I joined), but where have you been? I understand about warning new players, but I'm with CFM on this one. Just my opinion.
Now New members know of YOUR experience. Thanks.

Dang, is there a President's Day sale? I didn't see anything about it. Now I feel left out.
Well, I guess that's okay. I just bought some credits on Valentines Day, 3 days ago. Wonder why they'd have another sale so soon? I spent $3 and believe me, that's a BIG investment for ME, but I have a hard time resisting a sale. So I threw caution to the wind and bought 'em.
Well, I haven't used them yet, and I don't have another $3 to waste, so I guess it's okay I didn't know about the President's Day sale.
Yep. I admit it. I threw caution to the wind. Nobody MADE ME do it. So I guess if the wind shifts and blows 'em back in my face, I have no one to blame but me.
ahh
Thanks Seeker. While others may continue buying, it is not a bad idea to let anyone new to the games know that these can be temporary.
Farm has been here for over a year, and they've been recycling a lot of materials as well as slowing down the updates. Will it stay, will it go? Maybe these recent deals are testing the waters to see if the game should be continued. Or maybe its a goodwill gesture since discounts have been so few and far between in the past.
Oh I don't think your disrespectful at all. I myself have asked questions as a devils advocate. Thank you for typing this, it gives me an oppurtunity to expound on a few thoughts. First off, this is not some mom and pop operation. Cafe Mom is a wonderful meeting place for moms, founded in 2006 it is the largest meeting place for moms, with 2 co founders, couple of investers. There is something for EVERYONE on here, and I mean everyone. There are 9,000,000 unique visitors to the site every month. Yep, 9 million. How many come in here, drop money and lose it? The game part of Cafe Mom didn't go away. Some of the games did. They got the money, and giving members credit would be the RIGHT thing to do. Something tells me this issue is a lot bigger, a lot more money with 9 million unique visitors a month, than you know about. It's not a lousy 10 bucks from one mom we are talking about here.
