It's officially November! With that being established, I can ask now :)
What holidays do you celebrate? How do you decorate forthem (if at all) and when do you start?
I'm a mom who can't sum up what's right for her family in one paragraph.

I just love this time of year! We celebrate both Thanksgiving and Christmas. We ususally don't decorate too much for Thanksgiving, but I just looooooove cooking on Thanksgiving Day! Mmmm mmmm mmmm! Christmas literally begins the day after Thanksgiving! We go and get our tree either Friday or Saturday, and spend the weekend decorating it. We do all the usual stuff, stockings, outdoor lights, garland, wreaths, etc. Christmas dinner is almost as big as Thanksgiving (but not quite!) Ahhh, did I say I love this time of year? :)
We celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year we are going low key and staying here just as a little family. Thanksgiving we don't do much for except eat - I am hoping the all day morning sickness is gone by then so I can eat to. Christmas I already have most of my shopping done. Just need to make and send cards, stocking stuffers and coffee mugs for parents and grandparents with Conner's picture on them. We are doing a fake tree which I thought about putting up this morning but I think I'll wait till Thanksgving is over. I can go a little nuts with decorations inside and out.
Thanks for making it easy for me!! This is pretty much what we do too!

We celebrate Thanksgiving, St. Nicholas Day (Dec. 6), St. Lucia Day (Dec .13) Christmas, and St. Knut's Day (Jan. 13). We start decorating in October. I set out haybales with a scarecrow, cornstalks, pumpkins, and barrels of mums surrounded by pansies. Thanksgiving we go to my grandparents house and all the women spend all day cooking, it's so much fun. On St. Nicholas Day you set your shoes out the night before (Dec. 5) and St. Nicholas leaves little gifts in your shoes. St. Lucia Day is a swedish holiday and I am half swedish. The oldest girl of the family wakes up early in the morning to serve her family lussekater (St. Lucia Buns) and coffee in bed. She is dressed in a white robe, with a red, sash around her waist, and a wreath with candles on her head. She sings the "Santa Lucia" song as she serves her family. St. Lucia Day also marks the first day of Christmas for us. Also on St. Lucia day we make a huge gingerbread house and all the neighborhood kids come over and help eat it. Then of course we celebrate Christmas. We decorate the house on St. Lucia Day. And we don't get our Christmas tree till Christmas Eve and while we decorate it, we eat nutterbutter sandwiches (peanut butter and marshmallow fluff) and either listen to Christmas carols or watch Christmas movies. Christmas morning somebody pulls a name out of santa's hat and whoever it is, that person is Santa and hands out all the presents. And after presents we have a bug smorgasbord. St. Knut's Day is the last day of Christmas for us. On St. Knut's day we take down the tree and all the decorations and we have a big smorgasbord. We have a pretty insane holiday season, but I love it!
For Thanksgiving we do traditional stuff. Usually spend the day with family, but sometimes just us at home with the kids. I think Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because of the good food and how mellow it is. For Christmas, we actually don't do a tree or santa. We don't do any specific decorating of anything. We do, however, get our kids gifts. I just felt so guilty not. We also get together with family like everyone else. And no we are not Jehovahs Witnesses. lol. People always ask me that when i tell them we don't do much for Christmas.
