I am a new mom, and my son is colicky. It breaks my heart to watch him go through this, when there is so little I can do to make him feel better. He bottle feeds, I feed him Nutramigen formula with a drop of Mylicon in an anti-colic bottle. I feed him upright and burp frequently. None of this seems to make a difference.
When he is uncomfortable and screaming, I dim the lights and walk him around the house. If moving doesn't work, I sit with him in the dark bathroom with the fan on (the sound of the fan seems to soothe him). Sometimes I will take him out for a walk in the stroller, or a drive in the car.
The other day, he screamed so hard he popped a blood vessel in his eye! Is there anything else I can do besides my current routine? Advise would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
try talking to your pediatrician my son was labled as colic and i asked to have him checked for acid reflux. And sure enought my son had it and the symptoms are the same as colic. cant hurt to ask the dr.

Aw! I totally know what you're going through. My son was colicky from week 3 until about week 12-13 (He's 17 weeks now). We got him on Zantac and Similac Alimentum formula and continued with the mylicon in his bottles. That combination worked great. He wasn't completely cured of it, but it lessened it dramatically and he went from screaming every night from 6-11 to maybe 2-3 nights a week and only a couple hours at a time. Even though the colic is over, we still have him on that combo until the Ped gives the ok...probably at 6 months. Good luck to you. Seriously, try these things. There is an end to it eventually and you'll have a happy smiling baby!
Definitely ask about acid reflux. We have my son on Prevacid and that has helped. He doesn't seem to have serious reflux, but the antacid helps a lot with his gas.
His colic was due to food sensitivities. He is highly allergic to soy (which is in all formulas) and is sensitive to many other foods, including peanuts, eggs, corn and wheat. Luckily, I am breastfeeding and all I had to do was eliminate supplementary bottles of formula from his diet and the foods I listed above from my diet. It worked wonders and now he is the happiest baby I've ever been around. We had issues from Day 1 to Month 4 when I started the diet. He is now almost seven months old and only has issues when I accidentally eat something he's sensitive to or if we miss a night of Prevacid.
Hope this helps!
yes the similac alimentum worked for my daughter also but its too expensive and dh wanted to see if something else worked .. well needless to say we got prescribed an even more expensive formula .. its called Neocate and you can only get it at a pharmacy.. its $40 a can ... yea, big bucks to feed her for 2.5 days.. but its been working better then the alimentum .. im also giving her Zantac and gripe water to help her poop .. TRUST ME i tried everything and this formula has been working the best.. no more cryin for 6-10 hrs straight :)
