ASCO Cancer Policy Today. ASCO’s Cancer Policy Today and Cancer Policy Alert provide information on the latest news on cancer legislative and regulatory issues. The Cancer Policy Today is issued on a bi-weekly basis, providing updates on cancer research, quality care, and Medicare. The Cancer Policy Alert is issued on an as-needed basis when an important development has occurred in one of these areas.

ASCO's Progress in Cancer Timeline: In 1971, President Richard Nixon declared "War on Cancer." At that time, treatment options for most cancers were extremely limited, and scientists knew very little about how the disease grows and spreads. Now, nearly 40 years later, research advances have transformed the way cancer is prevented, detected, and treated, and cancer had become a much more survivable disease. This timeline tracks progress over the past 40 years in the four most common cancers in the United States: breast, prostate, colorectal, and lung cancers.

ASCO's Grassroots Action Center. The ASCO Grassroots Action Center includes the latest ASCO alerts on Congressional activities, as well as contact information for elected officials.

Cancer Leadership Council. The Cancer Leadership Council (CLC) is made up of 33 patient organizations, professional societies, and research organizations engaged in a wide range of issues related to a fundamental goal of ensuring people with cancer have access to high quality care.
