Sandwiches, chips or crackers, fruit, water maybe cookies for dessert.

In part, the venue decides the menu!  But in general I'd bring:

a pasta salad: tortellini tossed with veggies, chopped salami and italian dressing

chopped fruit

baguette and cheese (or crackers with cheese)

water or lemonade (I freeze it the night before)

a sweet treat (usually cookies or some chocolate - also frozen the night before)

We take fried or baked chicken or hoagie type sandwiches, some kind of chips, bottled water and plenty of duck food.

Sandwich fixings, we make them there. Chips, baked beans, tea for the adults and juice boxes for the kids. Cookies, sometimes a sheet cake in a disposable pan. Tomorrow might be a good day for this. Glad someone mentioned it.

usually, subs, chips, juice. Quick and easy and what the grandchildren like and will eat fast enough for them to go on the swings, slides, or to check out the alligators(UGH), but they love looking at them.

The kids and I go on picnics quite often, we usually take sandwiches, chips, fruit, baby carrots, drinks, and extra snacks.... sometimes we'll pick up subway or happy meals if it's really spur of the moment.
