baking  Hey everyone,  I love to bake, especially for the holidays. I usually get those cookie doughs with the holiday pictures on them and I love to make oatmeal raisin cookies too. But this year I would love a new and exciting cookie! So, tell me what is your favorite cookie? I could use the extra ideas, thanks!

I love to make the family recipe for sugar cookies (don't have it right off the top of my head, gotta ask my mom for the recipe again, LOL). But the recipe is huge! It makes so many that we have to freeze them so we have a chance to eat them all before they go bad. I have to use a stock pot to mix the ingredients too. And every time I have tried cutting the recipe in half, it just doesn't work as well. Oh well! Good thing my kids love the sugar cookies. LOL

From now until Thanksgiving, I am committing to posting a daily Thanksgiving.

November 16th's Thanksgiving:

I am thankful that my family has so much love. We may not have much money but we are richer than any millionaire because we have love. There is nothing better than one of my kids running up to give me a random hug or kiss or to tell me "I love you mommy."

I will have to get back with you on that.  I have LOTS of favorites!  But I'm not home where my cookbooks are.

One thing I will suggest to you, if you want new recipes, try your local library.  I used to check out cookbooks all the time, and I even ended up purchasing a few that I really used a lot!

OK. I'm home. I don't know if this computer will cooperate with the format of a recipe, but I'll try one just to see. All of these (Jubilee Jumbles w/Browned Butter Glaze, Spritz, Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Crinkles, Russian Teacakes (or Snowballs), Lemon Squares, Cream Wafers, Old-Fashioned Sour Cream Cookies) are found in my Betty Crocker Cookie Cookbook. You can find reproductions at Borders. Red cover with cookies all over the place! SNICKERDOODLES 1 cup shortening (part butter or margarine) 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 3/4 cups Gold Medal Flour 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. soda 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon Heat oven to 400*. Mix shortening 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Blend flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt; stir in. Shape dough in 1" balls. Roll in mixture of 2 Tbsp. sugar and cinnamon. Place 2" apart on ungreased bakngsheet. Bake 8 - 10 min. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
