baked spaghetti

 BAKED SPAGHETTI
TOSSED SALAD
ITALIAN BREAD


Baked Spaghetti:

1 (8 ounce) package spaghetti, cooked
2 tablespoons butter 
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
1 (24 ounce) carton ricotta cheese OR cottage cheese
1 pound ground beef
1 (25.75 ounce) jar Italian-Style spaghetti sauce
1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese

 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Line a 13x9x2-inch baking pan with aluminum foil . Spray with non-stick cooking spray (coat well).
Combine hot cooked spaghetti with butter; stir until butter melts and coats spaghetti.
Add 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese; stir to coat. Arrange spaghetti in an even layer in foil-lined pan.
Spread ricotta cheese over spaghetti. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
Brown ground beef, drain; add pasta sauce and heat until bubbly. Spoon over cheeses.
Top with mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese.
Cover with foil. Bake 30 minutes.
Remove foil cover and continue baking 15 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Serve witht tossed salad and warm Italian bread.

I make something similar, and it is very well liked here. It is also a nice casserole to take to pot lucks. My recipe adds sliced pepperoni on top.


My recipe also doesn't call for lining the pan with foil.  I do spray the pan to make clean up easier.

I may try it too. I have heard of it but never looked for a recipe! My kids LOVe spagetti!!

There is a similar recipe posted in this forum for spaghetti pie that is yummy.

I'll have to try this too, my family loved the spaghetti pie.

This sounds good.  Growing up, my grandmother used to make us baked spaghetti all the time.  But, it was a different recipe.  Just basically the same as regular spaghetti, just mix everything together after the noodles cook, mix in some shredded cheese, and bake in oven.

We also eat our baked spaghetti over a buttered baked potato.  Yes, I know, it sounds odd to eat a pasta over a potato (starch with starch), but it is actually so good, and the best way that I've found to eat it :)
