This is a great recipe to serve with any meal, but goes especially well with Mecican or Southwestern cuisine. I like it on fish tacos.

Cilantro Slaw
from Sunset Low Fat Mexican Cookbook

5-6 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup firmly packed cilantro leaves, minced
1/4 cup lime juice
1 Tablespoon each water and honey
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
Salt and Pepper to taste

In a large nonmetal bowl, mix all ingredients together.

I love slaw, but I'm not a huge fan of cilantro.  Is it just me, or does it sometimes taste like you think dishwater would taste?  Like, soapy or something.

Weird, I know.

Not wierd at all. Lots of people feel the same way. There's a theory that states it's genetic (not proven though) and another theory states that it depends on where you were born and if you grew up eating it. Asia, Latin America and Portugal all seem to have a cultural love for cilantro. It is interesting though, and there are many people who don't like cilantro, including Julia Child, who said it tasted "dead" to her. The first time I tried it, I didn't like it, but after having it several times, I began to like it. I heard other people say the same. There are several different varieties of cilantro-some considered more "soapy tasting than others".  Interesting how we can have such differing tastes.
