The only fish I ever eat is frozen or tuna as a salad lol. So i don't have a clue what to do with them! Hubby said he likes it but hasn't elaborated on how he likes to eat it or anything...So....What do these fish taste like? What can I make out of them?

My mom makes salmon and eggs served over potatoes or rice. I don't know anything about mackerel though.

We don't eat fish so I'm no help.  But here's a bump for you!

My mom makes patties out of them and then fries them, but I've never been a fan.

Quoting Mrs.Pedro:

...So....What do these fish taste like?

Cheap enough that you should open a can and taste it. They are fully cooked.

You need only open the salmon, empty it onto a microwave platter, remove the bone, and heat it slightly. Serve with any sides like potatoes and green beans.

Try the mackerel too.

This recipe can be used for both salmon and mackarel. I like to serve it with tartar sauce.

Salmon Patties
15oz can salmon, bones and black skin removed, with 2 Tablespoons juice reserved
1 egg
1/3 cups celery, minced
½ cups all-pourpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
2 Tablespoons oil
In a medium mixing bowl, combine salmon, egg and celery until mixed thoroughly; stir in flour. In a small mixing bowl, combine baking powder and reserved juice; stir into salmon mixture and form into 6 patties. In a large skillet, fry patties in oil for 3-5 minutes per side or until golden brown. Makes 6 patties.

 Cheesy Salmon Pasta

1 (8 ounce) package uncooked spaghetti

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup chopped sweet onions

3 green onions, finely chopped

2 tablespoons prepared basil pesto

2 (6 ounce) cans salmon, drained and flaked

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the onions, green onions, and pesto. Cook until tender. Mix in salmon, and cook until heated through. Stir in 1/2 the Parmesan cheese, and continue cooking 5 minutes. Toss with the cooked pasta, and sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese to serve.
