I have to make a cherry pie today and I couldn't find sour cherries. I ended up buying dark sweet cherries. Should I adjust the sugar in the recipe? I don't want it to be too sweet...but I also don't want to mess with the gooey deliciousness inside the pie.
Any thoughts?? I'm usually pretty good about making last minute substitutions, but this is for a friend of my hubbys and I don't want to mess it up for them.
I actually found a recipe for sweet cherry pie! The main difference is less sugar, add cornstarch and a tablespoon of lemon juice. I tasted the filling and it was delicious! I wish it was going to be our Thanksgiving pie. :)
