This is good for brunch or dinner.
Ham & Cheese Layered Casserole
12 (3/4" thick) Italian bread slices
1 cup chopped cooked ham
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
3 large eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Place 6 bread slices in a lightly greased 11x7 baking dish. Sprinkle with ham and 1 cup cheese. Top with remaining bread slices.
Stir together eggs and next 4 ingredients; pour over bread.
Bake for 40 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese; bake for 5 more minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving
Makes 6 servings.
