National Sangria Day!!

Sangria is an iced punch traditionally made with red wine, sliced fruit, fruit juices and sparkling water. Though most people are familiar with the red wine version, sangria enthusiasts can lighten things up with white or rosΓ© wine. For an added one-two, spike the pitcher with a good quality brandy.

Do you like Sangria?  Have a recipe to share?

LOVE sangria....white, red, doesnt matter. But it has to be real sangria. Not the kind in a bottle. that stuff is yucky. I have made white before and it came out well. And i use rum and not brandy in it.

I worked as a bartender in a Cuban restaurant many many years ago.

Cuban Sangria

1 orange, sliced
1 lime, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brandy
1 bottle dry red wine
Place fruit in pitcher, add sugar, stir occasional while it sits for about 30 minutes. Add brandy and wine. Let sit several hours or overnight for best flavor.

I've also had it with mangos, and strawberries.

They always used red wine from Spain.
