We do not use "discipline" to raise our children and get them to do what we want. We instead believe that while raising our children to be all they can possibly be in life, that we should be that safe haven they can always return to in times of hardship. We are the parents who get down on our childrens level and actually listen to what they have to say! We know that just because they are smaller than us, they are still human beings and deserve to be treated as such. In that respect, we do not spank or hit our children to "conform" and blindly "obey" us, but give them opportunities to do the right thing and praise them to the point where they really want to do what they learned will make them feel good. To help them eventually grow into an individual who knows what he/she wants, with high self-esteem, who is loving, kind and honest,we decide to take the road less traveled. If we all spent a little bit more time worrying about the long-term outcome of our children, the world would be a better place!
