I have only used Kmart layaway ONCE and I will NEVER use it again. I put a few things for my oldest first christmas and put about $50 dollars down for the first payment and when I went back to pay more I was told that I didnt have anything on layaway and that the receipt I had was fraudulant. They not only lost my stuff but I lost my money. It was BAD.

Did you have a baby BOY in August 2009? Were you due in August 2009 with a BOY? If so join this group

Did you speak to a store manager?  If so, you should have called corporate.

I've worked for Kmart for several years and we would have never gotten away with that crap.  Sounds like a bad store giving the company a bad name.

That totally sucks that that happened to you...I have only had good experiences with my layaways there and its horrible that that happened to be honest if that happened to me I would have been to mad to ever go back to that store...50 bucks is 50 bucks and I would have bawled my eyes out to lose it.

I have 5 kids and this year again I have to budget very carefully so I rely on the layaway so I can honestly say that I think you just went to a bad Kmart. So sorry about that........

When my oldest was a baby I had a layaway at Kmart for  his first Christmas as well.  They lost the layaway. They did refund my money, but I am sorry to hear about your experience, my other layaway experiences with them have been good so far, and I will probably use them at Christmas again this year.

That is insane, wth did they mean you had a fradulant receipt. I would have went to the news media, and they kept your 50.00 that is wild!

Thank goodness we have a Sears holding specialist in the group, and she is willing to help you resolve this. :)  If a store manger can not resolve it for you call corporate and they can help. Also make copies of everything and keep your originals.  I have never had a bad experience with Kmart shopping. Shoot we saw a pool table we wanted badly last year, it was on sale and they had no one to help us load it that day. We came back the next day as they suggested, and due to the wait they gifted us with more monies off and we got a gift card in the mail as well 6 weeks later. We love our Kmart, always clean, courteous and easier to shop. :)

Oh and last year we racked up on awesome clearanced Halloween decos and have enjoyed decorating this week with everything! Should I dare mention the great clothing sales thisweek and no not just summer time clothes either, WOOT! Ok so I have a shopping, browsing addiction. ;)

It hasn't been too long since you posted this but I was wondering if anyone had helped figure out where your money went or why they said you had a fraudulant receipt.
