Hanukkah?

My family celebrates both Hanukkah and Xmas.  My DH and I are Jewish and his children (who live with us full time) are not.  I do my best to honor both traditions and cultures.

Are there any other moms in this group that celebrate Hanukkah?

Yes my hubby is Jewish. We celebrate Hanukkah, Yule and Christmas, but not Christmas as a religious holiday, just a fun one and we decorate for it.  How do you celebrate Hanukkah and what kind of foods do you make for it? We have a menorah and some beautiful candle holders I got that have the Star of David on them.

I make latkes and this year I think I am going to try jelly donuts...instead of buying them.

Each night the kids get to pick a gift to open from their "Hanukkah gift pile."  They will get one big gift and then 7 smaller ones.  I always get them socks and unders, it has become a family joke since that is all my DH ever got for Hanukkah.  I even buy them for my MIL, who thinks it's a hoot.

Each child has their own menorah that they decorated and they light their own.

We play dreidel and I usually find some sort of crafty thing for them to do.  Last year we made stars from craft sticks, they decorated them and I still have them hanging in my kitchen.

We also talk about the story of Hanukkah and the miracle of oil.
