for a 12 year old

I have a 12 year old boy that needs something to wow him-mentally challenge him or physically what ever but something that is fun for him. As the oldest boy in the family I sometimes want to get him what I think is fun but not sure if that is the best way to go.  But some ideas or suggestions would be helpful-

He is a geek-likes star wars and computer games.  Legos are fun and stimulates his brain but I want to step up from that and get something that would really challenge him.

There is the new nintendo dsi.... and if you are looking for a computer game.... world of warcraft is a good one i have been playing it on and off for 4 years... however it does cost 14.99 a month since it is a online game.

If he likes legos try K'nex they even have motorized K'nex systems that are really complex but mentally challenging.

Sorry-he is my son and the price range is around $50 to $75.  This is his big gift and he does not get much during the year.

Knex has some BIG kits that are well over 6 feet tall that they can build also another idea.

that shocking toy will definitely make it on the list.  We are that kind of family!!! and for some reason we have those kind of friends-did you read the write up-go read it it is funny.  Especially the part where they scream like a girl!  That made the list for sure!
