When is the best time to decorate?

Ok this is the 1st year I get to decorate my own place for the holidays. Some of my Facebook friends have said they have already started to decorate for Christmas. Now I don't have much to decorate with, but when is the best time to decorate? Before or after Thanksgiving?

I usually decorate Thanksgiving weekend, but this year my family is coming to my house so we will be super busy, therefore I am going to start decorating this weekend.

i like to let each Holiday have its day before starting on the next. so all Christmas decor starts going up the day after Thanksgiving.

in my opinion, anytime after Thanksgiving,if you decorate before Thanksgiving you are taking away from that holiday, just my opinion.thats the way ive always done.lola  aka misslj

I decorate the day after Thanksgiving.  My sons talked me into decorating on Thanksgiving the first year we moved into the house we live in now, but other than that its the day after.  If I don't have my tree yet, I will do garland and lights in the house and put up the wreath and stockings.  I got a great deal on new Stockings for the boys this year and I can't wait to see what they look like :)

If there is something that will look nice for Thanksgiving and then add to it for Christmas, start mid November. You don't want to be tired of the same decorations all through December.
Much of the fun is in doing the decorating part.

Like you can put out pumpkins for Halloween and use them as part of Thanksgiving decor, maybe without scary faces,  you can do some winter theme decorations for Thanksgiving and add the red and green for Christmas.  Gold is a good color for both holidays.

I usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving.  There was one year we made an exception though.  We were going out of town for Thanksgiving so I decorated before it so when I came home the Christmas decorations were already up.
