Have you ever given a gift, food, or done a service for someone whom you don't know well, or for a stranger? Did you want credit for doing it?

I don't know if this counts. But a few months ago when we were living in our old apartment we had gone grocery shopping for a few things and decided to just clean out all of our canned foods and many half of the groceries we had bought and put it on craigslist in the free section for someone who needed it. This lady emailed me and told me she had no money or food for her and her daughter so she said she could come pick it up if I still had it. I told her she could come get it and I would add a few extra things to the box that she needed. She left her cell in the email. 2 hours later she still hadn't shown so I called her cell and her car had broken down close to our apartment. We went and picked them up(her and her daughter.) and took them back to their house which was 45 minutes away. Her daughter was crying that she was hungry on the way home so we stopped and got her a happy meal even though we didn't really have the money for it. We dropped the lady and her daughter off with the box of stuff and she said thank you and she would email us when she could return the favor! Still haven't heard from he but I never expected her to. It just feels good to do something nice for someone. Even though we weren't exactly in a place to be helping other people when we barely had enough food/money for ourselves. I just feel bad when I can feed my family and I know there are people out there who cannot=/
yes i have done for others and NEVER have i ever wanted anything in return. I feel so great doing for others when i can.

Off topic but I always see you posting and have wanted to say I love that picture of your daughter! It's adorable=]

I donate to March of dimes, and one time we were shopping and saw a young boy who really needed new shoes so we bought him a pair, he was/is a stranger but it felt good. I have donated baby food and baby item to thoughs in need. I have also been blessed in my times of need by others.

I did something for someone on Cafe Mom this year...I didn't know her...Haven't told anyone about it except on this post...not even hubby knows...Don't need to say what it was or who it was for... Was just something I felt I wanted to do....

I try to always do nice things for people, whether it be like one of the other posters said, picking something up, reaching something or whatever I can. This Christmas I am getting the chance to help these two little girls who otherwise wouldn't have a Christmas. I don't want anything in return, I just want to teach my kids that it always makes you feel good to help someone who aren't as fortunate as we are.

Well, we once left a waitress a 50 dollar tip, just because of a feeling I had.
I bought coffee and donuts for a roadside worker one day when it was super cold outside.
We've bought meals for homeless people.
I adopted 2 families on here last year and helped get them Christmas.
I never wanted recognition, we do things when we can because we like to help out but aren't rich so we just do small things.
