Anyone else wait....

to do their holiday shopping?

My husband works and attends school in another state and won't get to come home until about the 14th of December. As we use our date night to do the shopping for the kids' presents (as well as an excuse to have dinner together, have coffee, browse the bookstore, LOL), we will be waiting until he comes home to go shopping for the kids and set up the tree (just not right to set up the tree without daddy home).

So, does anyone else wait until closer to Christmas to start and finish your shopping?

I used to... but every year our family gets more and more spread out and with shipping and everything- it just seems l like it's easier to get it done with as soon as possible- and then enjoy the holiday season!

We're waiting because we're on welfare, my SO just got a job... and we have no money.

The area is live in is beyond depressed and it's been so hard for anyone to get a job, even at McDonalds!!!

My SO was lucky enough to get hired at a local gas station making minimum wage, working part time.  I count my blessings for that.  (He can't even get a better job and he's an Air Force Vet!)

Our baby is due December 12th, so we don't expect anythng from anyone unless they want to get us things for our son.

His first paycheck comes on December 11th, the day before our due date.  We will have almost all of our bills due by then.  If we have money left over from paying bills, we're going to get everyone something small like candy, $1 instant scratch ticket, or make some craft for them.  But I'm still not sure if he's going to make enough to cover all of our bills and us be able to buy other things we need like toilet paper.

We do what we can, and our families know we don't have anything right now.  Just food stamps.  =)
