I left my house this morning at 230 so I could get to Old navy at 3. There were about 150 people in line when I got there. At 3 am security came out and said they don't open till 4 even though print ad stated 3. I decided to wait because Target didn't open till 5. So an hour in the cold and at 4am security comes out and says they don't open till 5. At thay point people were so mad I thought they were going to break the doors down. They were shaking them and yelling at employees. It was a nightmare so I left. I then went and got in line at Target 45 minutes before the store opened and there were tons of people in line. I did get in easily and get my items. I got in line. They said there was only one line and security was moving each person to the lanes. Well it didn't work out like that. Apparently all the lanes were open with lines and the line I was in wasn't actually a line at all. The line I was in was rapped all around the store and I was at the tail end of it. We found out because an employee came and told us and said they would do the best they could to feed us into other lines. I stood in line 2 hours to check out. I then went back to Old navy and got my items and waited in line for another hour. I've been black friday shopping for years and I've never experienced such a mess! I don't think I'll ever do it again.
I don't do black Friday shopping for that reason, I don't like waiting in lines and it's worth the extra 50% or whatever for me to pay not to have to stand in that line! On the other hand working black friday as a Toys R Us employee is great! I loved it constantly busy so never a dull moment!
Yeah, I avoided malls and large department stores like Wal-Mart or Target partially for that reason. I left about 9 am with my mom, we hit Stride-Rite, a small bookstore, an independent toystore, and a payless. There were no lines and we were done with all the stores in under 3 hours.
i did it last year and that will be my last....lol....i would much rather not get the sales.

wow i would have been livid and given up,, youre a better woman than i! im sorry about your bad trip...i hope its better next year!

Sorry you had such a lousy experience. I went to Old Navy in the early afternoon and I only waited in line for 8 minutes. They had everything I wanted too.
I went at 3pm to walmart and got everything I wanted! lol my dh did the 3am shopping with his brother so they could get his brother a new TV! they were like 77 in line and they had 120 of the tv's so he got one. I think I might hit the online slaes on Monday "Cyber Monday" I hope to see some good ones!
