I really hope it lasts through at least the first weekend in January!  Any tips for keeping it green and fresh?

Just make sure you keep water in it, and dont make your house too hot because it can dry it out.

=*( we have to wait til we go to MILs in Dec. to get a tree. This isnt normal for me and it doesnt even seem like Christmas until i get my tree....anyways....Keep your tree watered, dont keep your home to warm....and i also buy that Christmas Tree Food...they sell it at Walmart. We usually get our tree on Black Friday and dont take it down until the first week of the new year.  Have fun and enjoy!!!

If you live in an area where you need a furnace running, make sure you don't put it anywhere near where the heat can blow on it. That will dry it out something terrible in a few weeks, even if you keep lots of water in it..

And make sure you cut a few inches off the stump right before you put it in the tree stand with the water. If not, the tree won't be able to absorb much water at all .

Cool!  I'm gonna look for Christmas tree food this afternoon!  Also, we don't have a furnace, but we were putting the tree in a corner kind of near our electric heat base board things.  Should I try to find a different spot for it or do you think that will be okay?

Also the Christmas tree people we go to said they would chop some off the bottom before we take it.  Is that too long of a wait?  It's like a five minute drive from there to our house.  Probably like 20 minutes before we can get it into water though.

As long as you get it put in water as soon as you get it home, you won't need to cut it again. Just make sure the guy cuts it for you before you leave.  Also, I did some searching before, and you don't need to add anything to your water. It sounds like it's nothing but a money maker, and it's totally not necessary. I read that on about 4 different sites, so I guess it's true.  I would keep it away from any heat source, including electric baseboard heaters.  Happy Tree Shopping !  :)
