St. Patrick's Day and Green Beer

What is it with St. Patrick's Day and green beer? or is it just something they have around here? In the bars you can get green beer on St. Patrick's Day. It is just regular beer with green food coloring, right?

Has anyone here ever tried it?

Yes, just food coloring.  Just for fun I guess!

Does it stain your tongue green, I wonder?

In St. Paul, MN many Irish settled into the city, so, St. Pattie's day is a big thing. They have a big parade and festive time. I belive that it's another time to have a blast with a theme. I have a little Irish in my hestiage, but I have to be careful not to get a nose bleed or I will be kicked out of the clan.

Yup, just regular beer. Guess it's supposed to be cute? I've had it and it didn't stain my tongue.

When I was in college and we were on a road trip, being poor students we bought and off brand beer.  When we opened the cans they did foam up green.  There was no food coloring, just cheap beer.
