sesame bagel and cream cheese. This not-very-rich-in-nutrients combo is
what I've been having for breakfast every morning for about 4 months
now. I don't need a nutritionist to tell me this isn't the best way to
start my day; but it is the easiest, tastiest, and most filling option I
have. Who has time for breakfast in the morning?
A
long time ago, I was way more creative with my breakfasts. Here's some
of my all-time favorites that I should probably get back to--and fast!
Waffle
& Cottage Cheese This is one of the tastiest morning treats. Try
whole grain waffles with a 4oz container of low-fat cottage cheese, and
blueberries. Sprinkle a tablespoon of almonds on there for added
protein.
Peanut Butter, Honey, and Banana Two slices of whole grain bread (the kind with the added fiber), honey, half a banana sliced up and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Very filling.
Egg
McMuffin One egg, one slice of low fat cheese, one whole grain english
muffin. A side of fruit, like strawberries or melon. (If I have time, a
scrambled egg plus spinach or peppers makes this even healthier and
more filling.)
Egg
& Spinach Pie Mix egg beaters (or something similar), feta cheese,
spinach, chopped peppers and diced ham and pour into a baking dish that
was sprayed with olive oil (or PAM). Bake till cooked through. Eat all
week long with a slice of whole grain toast, or an english muffin.
What's your typical breakfast like?
toaster waffles with a nice strawberry cream cheese or we also do like a waffle sandwich, put an egg and bacon or sausage on it, not the healthiest but good on the go
Quoting 4kidz916:On weekdays we are usually scrambling to get out the door on time so the kids eat cereal or a breakfast bar and I grad coffee. On the weekends we usually have a more healthy breakfast. Sometimes we have scrambled egg whites with turkey bacon and we also have a lot of muffins and fruit.
Quoting lovinangels:I like taking your egg and spinach pie and doing it in little cupcake pans, with other veggies, too.
Quoting usmclife58:And egg mcmuffin is one of my favorite breakfast items. Especially with a few strawberries on the side.
And my husband LOVES peanut butter and honey on a bagel.
we also like bagels and cream cheese and bagel sandwiches. I also make english muffin sandwiches. Sometimes the kids just like the easy scrambled eggs and a biscuit or toast
I'm bad about not eating breakfast or if I do it's something not healthy. I love the idea of the banana, honey and pb. I love all three things. The egg on the english muffin sounds really good too. When I am not in such a hurry and I'm thinking about grabbing something healthy I love yogurt with fresh fruit added to it. Thanks for the ideas.
It depends sometimes something as simple as several pices of toast or scrambled eggs. English muffin with Peanut butter.glass of milk or OJ.
