See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
Thanksgiving is a day to enjoy so many delicious foods, sit around with family and friends, and just have fun. But it doesn't end there. There's still three more days left to this long holiday weekend, and a refrigerator full of leftovers. How do you stick to your healthy lifestyle without ignoring all those delicious treats? My advice is to make smarter choices and do your best, but don't deny yourself, it only comes around once a year.
Nothing's better than turkey dinner leftovers for lunch. But before you break out those leftovers, you better put on those sneakers and go for a nice long walk, hit the gym, rake leaves---do something that gets your heart rate up. You'll have more energy, burn calories, and may even eat a little less at lunch. (Try to do some activity every day over the weekend.)
When making the leftover lunch, don't just pull plastic containers of leftovers out willy-nilly and put them on the table, come up with a lunch menu. Hot open-faced turkey sandwiches with stuffing, gravy, and some cranberries is a no-brainer, and delicious. Having a plan is better than putting out containers of leftovers on the counter and diving in, you'll eat less with a plan. Come 3:00, looking for a snack? Nibble on one slice of leftover pie and a cup of hot tea or coffee. No need to eat everything in one sitting, spread it out. Remember, it's not going anywhere.
