the Little House on the Pairie books as a child?

My son is studying pioneer times in social studies. He is really enjoying learning about how they lived.

no i missed out on that what age would it be for ? i watched the show i am trying to make a list of kids books that i want to read to my little one
( i did not learn how to read until i was 15 almost 16 taught myself:)
