Speaking of doctors

The other day I was very ill. Coughing, wheezing etc. So I put in a call to my doctor at 8 am, the on call service says call back at 9 am. So I do, to find out that my dr has no appointments available until March.  I said are you sure, what about tomorrow. No..no appointments until March. I ended up having to go to a walk in clinic. I was still seen, yes, but I like going to someone that knows my history, etc.  Don't most doctors have so many appoinments set aside per day for a sick visit?  Isn't that why you have a doctor, so they can keep up with your health and see them if you get sick?  My husband thinks we need to change doctors (we use the same one).  I just don't know if this is a common practice. Booking all day, so there is no room for sick appointments.

that is what I thought.  I mean, really why have a dr if you can't see them when you are sick. I ended up with having a shot at the clinic, a breathing treatment, antibiotics and put on breathing treatments every 4 hours. And yes I got good treatment, but I'd much rather had my Dr treat my bronchitis.

I use public health system and appointments are a-ways off.  If I need immediate care...Dept. of Health Clinics are available based on income or a walk-in clinic like American Family Care or the ER....Even when I had insurance, appointments were a-ways off at my regular clinic....I could not just call in and they would see me.
