I'm Mexican/Italian/Japanese and my husband is Mexican/White. We're all born here in America. We learn about all cultures and languages.

Generic term for spanish speaking. I'm Caucasian. Don't recall any of my ancestors being from the Caucasus mountains.......

Quoting EireLass:

One of my closest friends is Mexican, and that's what she calls it. Mexican. But I often hear "Hispanic" and can't for the life of me figure out where Hispania is.

Quoting lizzig:

technically someone who is hispanic is from portugal or spain.  though many americans use it to refer to anyone who speaks spanish or has a spanish surname.  my husband is mexican & hates being referred to as hispanic.  he also doesn't like the term latino since he is not latin.  he prefers to be called what he is, mexican. (fyi regarding latino/hispanic)

Quoting EireLass:

Where is a person from if they're Hispanic?

Quoting noahsmommy-010:

I was born in Mexico brought here when i was 9 or so. My son's father is hispanic so nothing different than me(not together anymore) My boyfriend now is from a different background than me (African American). I am the only one out of all my family who has dated outside our race. Nothing too big but his family has more than one culture which i love:)

Well from my understanding and i might be wrong but this is just what i was tought and theres been a lot of arguements about this but is someone is born here in America and their parents are from Mexico they are considered Hispanics now if youre born in Mexico then you are a Mexican. I've also heard Mexican-American but then again thats what i've always heard.
