Does anyone here have a thyroid issue?  What was the next step for you after diagnosis?  Are you on daily meds?  What didn't they tell you that you would tell others?

I am on daily meds.  Synthetic thyoid medication 60 grams once a day. I am thinking it needs to be higher.
At first, my hair stopped falling out, I had more energy, life was awesome. 3 months in or so, stuff started reversing, hair started falling out, being tired all.the.time (not sleepy so much, just so tired I couldn't move).

I get checked in 3 weeks... to see if it needs to be increased (I think it does). I am not AS bad as I was before meds, but I do see/feel the need to be increased.
I also have zero Vit D. (well. .07% of 1% {Not even one % of what I need}), so I am on prescription strength (50,000 mg/ 2x a week). My body doesn't absorb the sunshine.

 Here's a BUMP for you

I have hyper thyroid.

After my normal doctor notice some symptoms he sent me to see a specialist. I took a daily drug every day for several year until my blood levels came back normal. I've been off of meds for many years but still have to get blood work done once a year and then every so often if my levels are strange.

The doctor that I got is great and covered everything with me. Side effects of the drugs to surgery if that is what I wanted. My biggest advice is to find a doctor that you like and are comfy with, that's 1/2 the battle...make it clear what you want to do right from the start.

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease over ten years ago, had radiation to destroy my thyroid and have been on the synthetic ever since. I have to take a pill everyday, an hour before eating or even drinking anything other than water. If I don't wait that full hour and sneak some coffee, I don't absorb all the hormone and my day stinks! If I save a ton of money and buy the generic over name brand, I will suffer for it. I recently went back to the generic, and have had some crazy PMS type symptoms. (Financially, it's worth it for me to try it, and it's not so bad because I know what's causing it.) I still have to see my doctor every 6 months to check on my levels, and I've learned how important it is to stay on top of it. Also, I recently found out my thyroid can regenerate, even to the point of hyperactive and I might need to radiate again. (Which I will NOT, and would not recommend!) Good luck, and stick with whatever treatment your experienced endocrinologist recommends. You will feel better, it just takes a while:)

Yes, daily meds.  It's weight based.  I'm about 190lbs and I'm on 150mcg.  Depending on your DX you may also need regular blood tests and appointments with your doctor.  I have to see my endocrinologist every 3-6m.  I have Hashimotos.

I have Hypo too (I didn't mention).

If you go by weight, then I am really low, dose wise. Like I mentioned, I get blood work done in appx 3 weeks.
