It's summer, and that means it's picnic time. You're not about to leave the lake/beach/park to have lunch are you? Nope. So lets get you armed with picnic necessities. Every mom knows eating picnic style isn't easy, and has its challenges, but if you get things organized now, the rest of the summer will be smooth sailing--or rather picnicing.
If you're at the park/beach/lake, you need to pack efficiently. Get a tote with a lot of compartments; it makes it easier to keep organized. Keep it stocked with plastic utensils, plates, lots of wet wipes, bug spray, and trash bags. (Tip: Reuse bags you got at grocery store or drug store; they're small and are good for tying up discarded picnic goods.) This way you don't have to worry about this stuff every time you go out.
Get a blanket that's easy to wipe clean, and folds up compactly. If you have a lot of people, get two-it's better to have more room.
For food and condiments that may sit out, like salads or potato chips, try the ‘food screens'. They pop up, so they are easy to store and don't take up a lot of room.
Remember, you can picnic in your own backyard, too. The kid picnic table is a must-have for parents. It's a place outside that kids can eat, but it's also a great place to do messy crafts. Hose down when done.
Now Happy Picnicing!
Do you eat outside a lot in the summer, tell us about it!

Ours isn't that big, and we prefer charcoal. Actually we prefer wood. We bought a small charcoal grill with the smoker attachment.
I love picnics! We usually go to a park and sit on a picnic table. We also have a lot of cook outs at our relative's houses. My Nana uses those food screens. In the summer I fill up a kid pool with ice, and place all my food containers in there to help keep it cold.
we dont really, especially at our house, there are way to many bugs around. we did think about getting a bug screen though
