If a concert is a tribute to an artist, does that mean the artist isn't playing? Gah, I am so musically challenged!

A tribute is in honor of a band. The casino not too far from here has tribute bands a lot. Usually the name of their band is taken from a song title off one of the original band's albums.

Well, this says Purple Reign- THE Prince Tribute.
So.... no Prince at this one?

usually yes, usually a tribute is to someone who has passed..

I wouldn't think so.  It is a tribute to him so I would guess others singing his songs.

Typically, the artist does not actually play. The band that is playing tribute will play all of their songs.
