What was your favorite novel as a young adult or late elementary school student?
I teach fourth grade and I'm always looking for books to add to my list.

I don't know why, but the kids really don't like them. They updated the covers so they look more current. But those just aren't the kinds of books that are popular right now.
Quoting reindeergames:I love the Little House on the Prarie series, still do!
One of the stories in our reading book is an excerpt from one of the Little House books. The kids enjoy it, but it's hard from them to read the books without some support. Too much about prairie life they need to have explained.
What shocks me is that they've never seen the show! I grew up in it, and they've never heard of it!

Letter's From Rifka. The best
I don't think I've ever heard of that one. What's it about?

It's a newer one, 2009, but it has great reviews. I will have to look into it.
Thanks!

How old are kids in the 4th grade? When I was 11, my favorite book was the mists of Avalon.
Usually about 9 or 10. So what you like at 11 is great for fourth grade. Close enough.
