I let my kids stay home yesterday to spend the day with my parents. My parents left for thier move to Texas today so I thought it was important, especially with my dd who is 7 but has no concept of distance. Have you ever let them stay for any other reason than being sick

Not usually. We even schedualed our vacation so they wouldn't miss any school. There might be some situations I would allow it other than medical things

No I woke make it a habit but with my dd disabilities we thought this would help her understand

that'll be rough if you're used to seeing them often.  my family lives about 12hrs away & his is in mexico.  my mom comes down every summer for a few weeks but that's the only grandparent my kids see/know.

No, but that sounds like a good reason to me!
