i have a little guy that will be 5 in august. he has a "history" of asthma, starting when he was about 10m, but he hasn't needed his inhaler in almost two years. that being said i noticed something that happens to him at night after he's gone swimming. he'll have episodes of whistling/wheezing (it's kinda hard to describe it) while he's asleep. this only happens if he went swimming that day be it for 20min or hours. i know when hubby takes him & i'm not there they get wild & my son will laugh allot taking in some water but when i'm with him i don't let him get so giggly & i'm careful to make sure he doesn't take in water. (we had several "dry" drownings in our area last summer).
i don't remember this happening before last summer & it happened pretty much every time he'd been swimming that day. didn't happen otherwise. i took the kids swimming yesterday & it happened again last night. he has nothing else going on. he feels fine while swimming & after, wakes up fine the next day & if he doesn't go swimming again his breathing is normal the following night. no cough, difficulty breathing while awake, pain, etc.
has anyone had anything similar happen to their little ones? any thoughts? the kids are going in for their yearly in a couple of weeks so i'll definately ask their dr then. but just wanted to see if anyone else has heard such.
