many people don't think to wash fruits & veggies that have skins we don't eat. many don't realize that what may be on the outside of that melon, orange, avocado, etc. gets to the "flesh" when the knife slices through the skin.
i work in the cafeteria at my children's school & we have to wash everything, even if it is "pre-washed". my husband works at a restaurant & he told me when he started at the one he works at now 7 years ago they didn't wash their lemons before they sliced them, nor the cantaloupe or any other such fruits & veggies. that was the first change he made when he started there, he's the manager.
