Tipping for haircuts?

There's a cosmetology school in town that offers $5 haircuts for kids, done by supervised students. I'm thinking of taking my 3 boys there. What's the protocol on tipping for that?

I'm not sure if you can tip students.

I think I would still try and tip and I would imagine that they would tell you no if they cannot accept that.

As a cosmetologist myself you should know that you can tip the students. Some people don't don't ask me why. It is not required that you tip them, but if you think they did a good job go ahead. In beauty school we don't get paid for the services we do. So if you like what they did go for it. :D

Thank you! My boys are active little guys & I'm afraid they'll be a huge challenge for the students.
