There's a cosmetology school in town that offers $5 haircuts for kids, done by supervised students. I'm thinking of taking my 3 boys there. What's the protocol on tipping for that?

I'm not sure if you can tip the students, however, I tip anywhere from 15 to 20 percent for my hair stylist.

I took cosmetology courses through my high school and we could accept tips but it had to go in a salon tips last and go towards a field trip to a hair show at the end of the year... I would say $2 tip for a $5 haircut seems fair

I would say at least 20-30%.

I just had mine done the other day. The haircut was $7 and I gave her a $10. She was super nice and we did one heck of a lot of laughing!

You should tip a couple bucks a kid.
