Have you ever made crayons?

Posted by   + Show Post

Have you ever remelted down bits of crayons in your oven or however to remake crayons for your kids? My son has a sensory disorder and gets something out of snapping crayons into tiny little pieces. Which is cool and all but now the baby wants to eat them lol. So I was thinking of making them into bigger toddler crayons but not really sure what to use as a mold? Or do you just use a cookie sheet and cut them latter? Do you use wax paper or cooking spray to get them back out? How did you do it?

I haven't but I always wanted to - I used to teach & always had tons of broken crayons at the end of the year. (we used to donate them as a whole school to a school in need in our area)

I've heard muffin pans work well. Maybe check pinterest for a 'recipe'?

Maybe spray the pan with Pam and melt them just enough to roll them out into rope shape.

I'd probably buy the thing from Walmart if you can make them larger.

Yeah, I learned that lesson too!

Yes I did, and I destroyed a Muffin pan in the process. So...yeah. I'm looking for a silicone brownie bites pan (small squares) to do it with instead...because silicone supposedly works better than metal (here's hoping) but I don't want to buy the wilton one, I want a cheapo one since I'm going to use it with crayons.
