Update - we can sign another year lease. She wasn't trying to up and sell the house, she just wanted to give us the option.
We rent a house from an older lady through a management company. Last fall, she asked the handyman to turn off our irrigation system. We don't have an irrigation system! Then in the spring, she had him come to turn on our swamp cooler. We have central air, not a cooler!
So a few weeks ago I got a phone call from a realtor. She said that the lady wants to sell the house. She said not to worry, that she would honor the lease we have, but she was calling to ask us if we wanted to buy the house.
Well we don't really like this house, don't like the backyard neighbors' dogs getting in the yard, the constant poop smell from other yards wafting over, or how close the houses are together, plus we have a mortgage on a house back in Illinois, nobody would give us a home loan!
So today when I went in to pay the rent I mentioned the call to the mgmt company owner to ask if we were out once the lease was up and she hadn't heard a word about it! Really?! Why would you let the tenants know before the mgmt company? Was she planning on telling them at all? Our lease is up the end of August! That's just 2 months away!
