For my stepson. He will be 21 in a couple weeks. For the most part he is a good kid but he got way behind in school because his mom and my husband didn't really stick on him about doing well. Well we finally sat him down and said if he wanted to live in our house he needs to get his GED. The contact at the college just called him saying he passed the test and will be recieving everything in the mail.
On top of that he has had a hard time finding a steady job in our area that wasn't temporary.
Well one of our neighbors that we have gotten to be friends with is a plumber. He works for a small well known company where he is the only employee. He has been looking for a helper to ride along and handle emergencies on weekends occasionally.
Yesterday plumber neighbor came over and asked my stepson if he'd be interested in helping him....the only problem is that the owner is on a mission trip to Korea for a month, so stepson won't get paid until owner guy comes back. Stepson is pretty excited though...because even though it is part time and unsteady during the summer for him as a helper, it is full time and 50+ hours a week come winter. My neighbor wants stepson to go to classes and get his Journeyman...neighbor is going to go get his master plumber license and then he will be taking over the business because the owner is ready to retire and wants to hand it over to neighbor. Very cool stuff.
