My son is about to start his second year. With all the requirements now for kindergarten, especially the school I want him to attend, it's necessary for us. He's learned so much. It's totally worth it.

Oh and I really can't think of any cons that would make me think twice. Monthly tuition kinda sucks and tightens our budget but it's worth every penny.

Nope. I used to teach pre-k so we just did it at home. So worth it. Hes homeschooled but he does great in other social activities like awana, vbs, and tee ball.

She didnt go due to some issues at home and we couldnt afford it.  She had some problems adjusting to the rules of school but once the teacher knew she had no formal school before kindergarten they were able to get her to cooperate better with the structure of class.  One thing she did not like was rug time which the teachers gave her and anyone else the alternative of sitting on a chair by the class during that activity.

Academics wise she was a bit ahead of her classmates but in handwriting it was a delay.

Yes. No cons that I can think of.

My two youngest did. I think it was a huge help. My 6 year old did a ton better than others in his class that didn't attend pre K and my 5 year old who went to pre K last year and will be going into K this year is already doing the work over the summer that he will be doing in K.

Neither of my kids did pre-k.  They both adjusted to school beautifully.

With my oldest she didn't go because the "free" pre-k in GA is a JOKE, and the private preschool was so expensive I fail to see how anyone affords it. Normal people certainly aren't using it.

With my youngest we were still in GA for the most part, and then we moved here where I could have easily registered her but she would have only gone for 2 weeks before the school year ended so we just skipped it.

I can confidently say neither of my kids needed pre-k.

No. I felt that she would have more of an advantage if I worked with her at home, giving her more individualized attention.

She is a very social person, well mannered, follows directions well. I wanted to work on her academics. Because she was at home, I was able to let her lead me in the direction that she wanted to go.

Yes, she's actually entering kindergarten this year ;) I think it was very helpful. I volunteered every Tuesday, so I got to see how things happen in class and I think it's a wonderful environment for kids. The social interaction alone makes it worth it IMO. My kids have lots of cousins and are constantly around other children, but there is something about a classroom, following someone else's rules, and being around her classmates that I feel is something I could never give her, no matter how many fun and educational  things I try to come up with at home. Her preschool was NAEYC accredited though, so that can make a big difference because they have a bunch of standards and rules, so it's not just a big free for all at school. She never had a problem with adjusting. She practically pushed me out of the door on the first day lol.
