My ds (2) has a bad case of the I needs... How do you deal with it with your kids?

I tell them, no, they don't need, they want and you don't always get what you want.

I have a 2yr old. When she starts doing that, I redirect her attention to something. Kind of like "Oh look Lilly it's a shiny toy".. That kind of thing. She forgets about whatever it is that she "needs" and starts playing with the pretty shiny toy lol.

Tell him no and redirect him. If we were in the store he would be told no and then we move on. If he started acting up daddy would talk to him.

Same way I handle the 'I wants' if you say you want something, it's a guaranteed NO.

Unless I ask for your input, I don't care if you want Hello Kitty fruit snacks (or w/e). I nipped that one quick. I cannot stand bratty kids in the store screaming (or whining) at their parents that they WANNNNNNNNNT (or need) ______.

Same here! :) Want vs. need is an important life lesson, for sure.

If we're broke (after the wonderful bills are paid) than we explain to DD we just can't buy that.... Yet.
