free iphone?

I need a new phone REALLY bad right now, my phone drains the battery really fast (the battery is fine, I tried DH's battery and it does the same thing). I have an upgrade that I haven't used yet, I was waiting to use it until I could afford a better phone. Also, I wasn't sure yet if I wanted an iphone or a droid.. Verizon just made that choice easier by offering me a free iphone... Only kicker is we had a really expensive month, after $500 worth of repairs on our car, our refrigerator breaking (cost of repairs, and replacing food) and my surgery coming up, plus a few other miscelanious things we don't normally have to buy/pay for. Anyway, the phone itself is free but theres a $30 upgrade fee..  Our bills are paid and theres plenty of food in the house, but I feel selfish wanting to spend extra money right now. What would you do?

I've had the phone almost 2 years, and its only been doing it the past couple months. I've always used the phone the same way. It's a pretty simple phone, I can make calls and text with it.. thats about it. The battery drains even if I'm not using the phone, like if it has 3 bars of battery (out of 4) and I don't charge it overnight it will be dead by morning.

Maybe you are using it differently? Phones can be crazy sometimes. I would get the iphone but I would make sure that you buy in carry the chargers for it at all times.

I don't have a smart phone right now. My phone is just messed up, it never used to drain the battery the way it does. Even if I don't use it at all, its dead half way through the day. If it's fully charged and I use the phone for almost a half hour, it's almost dead by the time I'm done. My husband has the same phone and his doesn't do it. I thought it was the battery at first, but we tried switching batteries and my battery was fine in his phone, and his battery was doing the same thing in my phone.

Quoting notjstanothrmom:

I would do it then! You need a new phone anyways. However, an iPhone is going to have the same problem with the draining of the battery... really any smart phone will.

Quoting tinkerxbell:

No, a one time $30 upgrade fee. My bill would stay about the same.

Quoting notjstanothrmom:

An extra $30 a month right? I wouldn't do it.

if it makes you feel better its an exclusive deal and not offered to everyone lol.. even at that the exclusive deal is for $50 off, I'd get it for free because I have an upgrade that gives me another $50 off.. There's just the $30 upgrade fee, which I'd have to pay no matter what phone I get.

I think I would find out how long they are offering the iPhone for free.  Then maybe you can set a goal to get it later.
