free iphone?

I need a new phone REALLY bad right now, my phone drains the battery really fast (the battery is fine, I tried DH's battery and it does the same thing). I have an upgrade that I haven't used yet, I was waiting to use it until I could afford a better phone. Also, I wasn't sure yet if I wanted an iphone or a droid.. Verizon just made that choice easier by offering me a free iphone... Only kicker is we had a really expensive month, after $500 worth of repairs on our car, our refrigerator breaking (cost of repairs, and replacing food) and my surgery coming up, plus a few other miscelanious things we don't normally have to buy/pay for. Anyway, the phone itself is free but theres a $30 upgrade fee..  Our bills are paid and theres plenty of food in the house, but I feel selfish wanting to spend extra money right now. What would you do?

already did, until september 15th so I don't have very long. Plus, like I said my phone isn't going to last very long. I have the $30, I just feel guilty spending it. I guess if I wait until closer to september 15th I wont feel as guilty.

I think I would find out how long they are offering the iPhone for free.  Then maybe you can set a goal to get it later.

If you have the money and you're not taking from something crucial, then you should get it.

I had straight talk a few years ago. As far as prepaid plans I liked it, but I like having a contract better.

I know with att and or iphones we had to change our plan to fit the iPhone. So our monthly bill went up you may want to look into that

Oh and yes now the bills on Verizon are different!!!! Instead of what you pay now, you have to pay a $40 fee for each smart phone on your plan, $30 for each basic phone and $10 for each iPad ( and the like). Then you also have to pick a data package, shared between everyone on your plan 2gb plan $60, 4gb $70 8 gb $80 or 10gb $90. You get unlimited text and voice though. This effects all new Verizon customers and the current customers when they upgrade. The only loophole to remain on your current plan is to buy the phone at full price.

Eta.... Also if you go over your plans gb allotment it is an extra $10 for each gb you went over. So if for example you have 2 smartphones on your plan and the 4gb package (2gb each) your bill will be $40+$40+70=$150 and then $10 if you go over the 4gb's.
