reading to a toddler.... help!

She's 14 months, she loves books she flips through them and pretends to read. But when I try to read a book to her at night she just doesn't want to sit there and listen she grabs the book and plays with it. I've tried several times with no success. Could she be to young for this?

This or get picture books and let her hold it and point things out to her.

Never too young.  She is old enough to learn some boundaries though.  Give her a book that is similar that she can play that book while you read another.   There are some tactile books that you could read and explore together.  Look the bunny, feel how soft its fur is << an example of a page from the one we have.  What kind of books are you reading?   Toddlers do best with 1-3 words per page with a 10 page maximum.

Mine likes some whle books read the right way such as Goodnight Moon. But we sing it. Others we point at pictures and say the words. It won't be ling before they really listen to a story so relish in the crazy toddler time.

I agree with the other responses.  Give her a book to play with and keep on reading!  It's so good for them and they are never too young!

I would still read to her even if I only made it through a few pages.
