I usually say Merry Christmas, but if someone says Happy Holidays I'll say it back to them ...

Happy Holidays unless I know for sure that the person celebrates Christmas!

Merry Christmas

i say "happy, merry holidays".  i have friends & coworkers of many faiths & beliefs, many who have some sort of celebration this time of year, so i simple say "happy, merry holidays" to be respectful of everyone.

Unless I know that the other person celebrates Christmas, I say Happy Holidays.  Why would you wish someone a happy "something they don't celebrate".  I'd never say Happy Hanukkah to my Christian friends.
