I have both, but I usually use oven mitts because I just don't trust myself. I am so clumsy, so I'd rather have as much coverage as possible.

Hot pads. I would LOVE an oven mitt but a certain giant furry baby eats them all! (our great dane, she loves oven mitts, I don't get it!)
