I'm sorry you discolored your carpet. Mr Clean Magic Eraser is a hard surface cleaner and not intended for use on fabrics or carpeting. Also not intended for: High Gloss, Polished, Dark, Brushed, Satin, Faux, Bare/Polished Wood, Stainless Steel. Always test first on a well lit, inconspicuous spot with light pressure. As shiny or glossing items may dull with pressure. I use on scuffs on floor, rubber part of tennis shoes, walls and many other places too.

one thing i have found to work excellent on carpet stains is "hot shot" bought it as walmart. it works great for any type of stain.

 since the magic eraser is made of its cleaner it "disintergrates as you use it. I think scrubbing it on carpet would make it crumble apart
