It is the 57th Presidential Inauguration! Do you have the TV on...watching it all with your kiddos? Yeah, my daughter is off from school for Martin Luther King, Jr Day too.Loads of great topics we can talk about today, huh? Civil rights, oaths of office, amazing pieces of our nation's history (and future)...pretty cool day. For a few laughs for the whole family, I dug up some fun facts about those men (no women...yet!) that have led our country. Enjoy!
-- Even though Socks the First Cat was a popular White House resident, William Clinton is allergic to cat dander.
-- Other interesting presidential pet facts: there have been bears kept at the White House (by Thomas Jefferson), an alligator (John Quincy Adams) and a zebra (Theodore Roosevelt).
-- Abraham Lincoln was a licensed bartender.
-- For Super Bowl VI, Richard Nixon gave a suggestion for a play to the Miami Dolphins.
-- William Taft would often get stuck in the White House bathtub. He would call, who else, his advisors to yank him out of there.
-- Herbert Hoover and his wife would speak Mandarin Chinese to each other when they didn't want anyone to know what they were saying - both were fluent in the language.
-- Samuel? Stephen? Stockard? All good guesses but the S in Harry S Truman doesn't stand for anything.
